These light photographs are part of a much larger body of work which I’ve been developing since 2008, in which I juxtapose works such as these portraits– both candid and staged– of my family and friends, still life images, landscapes and tableau I’ve created. For me, the light photographs capture instants of magic in the everyday. The first picture I made of this kind was Our Dining Room Ceiling. When I made it, I was falling in love and experiencing a state of domestic bliss. In that moment my dining room ceiling seemed to be reflecting that heightened emotional state while effectively queering the space; therefore representing at once my state of mind and my sexuality.
