Using everyday materials such as comics, magazines and newspaper, I create personalized yet abstracted narratives. By way of tracing on graphite sheets and paper, images are combined much like traditional collage. These simple black and white drawings, drawn/combined toward an idiosyncratic reality, are then edited back out into upholstered abstractions, free for the viewer to construct their own interpretation. Alternately, simple participation based wood crank constructions serve as metaphors for sex, intimacy and dating, constructed more in line with language, as statements to themselves.
