I want to uncover the tissue that connects disparate ideas, to dive into the mysterious and swim my way out. When I begin a new series I observe and learn from the ground up, circling my subject in every way possible. I research and touch, read and observe, ask questions and close my eyes to feel colors and shapes. I become a student, an artist and a storyteller. My work asks, how are things connected beneath the surface?

When I pull apart boards covered in wet plaster, create texture from wood glue, or make chemical reactions from fabric dye and house paint, an underlying infrastructure shows itself. The more I enter the energy around me, the more I see the persistence of what connects.
