I have always been fascinated by the rich colors, complex patterns, organic forms and voluptuous textures of the animal and botanical worlds, and equally interested in the ways humans have and continue to adorn their bodies with clothing and accessories that copy these. The work presented was inspired by images of plant and animal cell structures captured under a microscope. I used traditional and non-traditional jewelry materials to suggest the patterns of the images. For the exhibition, each brooch was mounted and displayed on the image it was originally inspired by. These are the background patterns of each of the brooches presented.
