I have always been interested in recording my life. When I was nine years old, I started keeping a diary after seeing the movie “Diary of Anne Frank.” I still write in a journal, but when I became a photographer, I began making images of myself as a visual diary. I took my first self-portrait over thirty years ago, and I have continued to place myself in front of my camera ever since as either subject, symbol, or human figure. Recently, I looked at some earlier self-portraits and decided to create new images that recreated or echoed the earlier ones. I want to recognize, accept, and celebrate the changes in my body, my sexuality, and my life.
