In this visually seductive piece, I was envisioning a Venus and her harem of hot Adonises with a sexting session, in a feminist re-appropriation that loosely references various Mannerist classical groupings of muses. Venus, as a cougar, exemplifies female desire freed from the procreative and reproductive engine.
I am primarily engaged in rethinking form for painting in the post-millennial era in a manner that reflects our hybrid digital and physical life. Working with still and animated projects that I describe as digital paintings, I am defining a pictorial space that is CGI, cinematic, 3-dimensional and graphic, with text and special effects. In contrast to the over-commercialization of new media, my work insists on a deeper dialog in which global, personal, political, technological, and philosophical dimensions interact poetically and powerfully in sublime narratives.
