ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a sculptor who works with handmade paper to explore ideas of impermanence, the role of chance, and the futility of control. Multiples with variations are a strong component of my work, working both as a metaphor and a visual strategy. I often suspend these multiples from the ceiling on fine line. Their movement in response to the movement in the air means that the display itself is impermanent, that it also has many variations.
