Emily Nelson

hemorrhage (60″ x 33″), pine, silk organza, blackberries, $370

As an artist I am interested in saying something on an intimate level about being a girl and a woman, dealing with issues of development, sexuality, and mortality. I am influenced by biological functions and processes of the body and the natural world, but my work is based primarily on my own impulses and personal mythology. It seeks to create a feeling of intimacy and tactility, often pushing a corporeal relationship with the viewer.
