20 Neighborhoods at ETA Creative Arts Foundation

Teaching artist Patricia A. Stewart tells us about the workshops at ETA Creative Arts Foundation

June 30

“Saturday afternoon, at ETA Creative Arts Foundation, a group of six women participated in the site’s first 20 Neighborhoods workshop.  Two more are expected next week.  These ladies were terrific!   They were happy about participating and excited to get started.  We chatted about ourselves and talked about our  relationship to the project topic.  We watched a PowerPoint presentation that helped explain the project.  We examined and discussed the contents of the  of the boxes of materials.  To experience assemblage making I showed them how to make brooches from the items that I provided and items that were sent in the materials box.  Brooches, especially those that are self made, further emphasizes the theme of this project.  Lastly, we familiarized ourselves with  the 20 Neighborhood handouts and filled out the Participant Release Forms.  I reminded them to bring items to define self for next week’s meeting.”
